Roger Bardales
MOKANRANKO
Roger MOKANRANKO Bardales, from the Shipibo-Conibo tribe, is an internationally known healer and vegetalista, with extensive experience in medicinal plants. Having traveled through several countries, he continues to bring many guests to the Ucayali region who seek healing and learn about the traditions of the Shipibos.
Thanks to his knowledge and network, he has long supported indigenous peoples and nature conservation.
Since he was officially appointed as Ambassador of the indigeneous people, he wants to reinforce his commitment!
A life with medicine from a young age
Roger was born in 1983 in a small community in the mountains of Canchawaya and grew up in the traditional way of the ancient indigenous people in peace with nature.
At age 8, he was called to follow his grandfather on the path of shamanism. He spent the next 15 years on the diet in the jungle studying the medicinal plants of the Amazon. He completed his studies as Muraya, the highest level of native healing skills, and received the name of the plants "MOKANRANKO".
Traveler and teacher in Europe
In 2007, he began to bring the medicine of the Amazon to the world, traveling to numerous countries in Europe and the United States. There he gave ceremonies in the Shipibo tradition, gave lectures on their culture, songs and healing knowledge and established a wide network.
Through him and his students, countless people have come into contact with Amazonian medicine in the last 15 years, and they are very grateful for it. More than 2,000 guests followed his invitation to the Ucayali region to experience indigenous healing and culture.
Active in politics as Ambassador
The modern progress he found in the West inspired him to initiate progress in his country as well.
And so, after his first trip to Europe, he began to get involved politically and to campaign for the standard of living and the rights of the indigenous population.
For example, he undertook the development of the infrastructure of his community on his own initiative and with private funds, installed electricity, water and light and promoted tourism and cultural life.
His efforts were highly appreciated by the population, who elected him President of the Santa Marta de Pucallpa Community in 2021. His commitment also drew attention at the supra-regional level and he was appointed Ambassador of the indigenous people of the Ucayali region in 2022.
Hope for a better future for the Amazon
With this official title, he hopes to give more emphasis to his private endeavors and have more wiggle room. He has numerous contacts in politics and business, which he wants to use to campaign for the rights of the indigenous population and for the protection of nature.
For a better world for our children!
